Bill ensuring transparency in SVP releases signed into law
Assemblymember Juan Alanis announced that AB 1954, a bill aimed at increasing transparency in the release of Sexually Violent Predators (SVP), has been signed into law by the Governor. The new legislation is designed to enhance public safety by involving more authorities in decisions related to SVP placements.
Financial literacy now required in California schools under new law
Assemblymember Alanis announced that his financial literacy bill, AB 1871, has been signed into law by Governor Newsom. The bill requires personal finance to be included in the social studies curriculum for students in grades 7-12. Unlike previous attempts, this legislation allows schools flexibility in integrating financial literacy lessons.
