Assemblyman Juan Alanis has expressed his dissatisfaction with the California State Supreme Court's decision regarding the potential placement of sexually violent predator Kevin Scott Gray in Turlock. Alanis criticized the decision, stating, "I am disappointed and angry about the decision made by the State Supreme Court on the case of Kevin Scott Gray."
Alanis believes that both the Judicial and Executive branches are not adhering to legislative laws concerning the placement of sexually violent predators. He highlighted concerns over Gray's proximity to a home school, citing Gray's history of assaulting 25 children and committing numerous acts of indecent exposure against minors.
Alanis further criticized the Attorney General's office for supporting California State Hospital in this matter, stating, "The Executive Branch clearly doesn’t care about the rule of law or the safety of children in my district." He questioned the court's stance on home schools not being considered real schools and vowed to fight against placing Gray near educational institutions.
He assured constituents that he would stand with concerned parents and work towards introducing legislation aimed at addressing these issues. Alanis emphasized his commitment to protecting children, saying, "We must protect our kids. Period. End of Discussion."
Assemblymember Juan Alanis represents several communities within California's 22nd Assembly District.
