Assemblymember Juan Alanis expressed his disappointment following the California Supreme Court's decision to remove the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act from the November 5th ballot. Alanis stated, "I’m very disappointed to hear that the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act will not appear on the November 5th ballot. The electorate in California should have been able to decide the status of this initiative at the ballot box, as the state constitution allows."

Alanis criticized what he described as a continued attack on voters' rights, noting, "The continued attack on the voter’s right to decide policy for themselves at the ballot box is both dangerous and disheartening." He attributed this decision to requests from Democrats, adding, "Instead, the California Supreme Court, at the requests of Democrats, has taken that decision away from the voters."

Despite this setback, Alanis affirmed his commitment to advocating for legislation aimed at making California more affordable. Assemblymember Juan Alanis represents the 22nd Assembly District, which includes Modesto, Turlock, Ceres, Denair, Patterson, Gustine, Newman, Hilmar, Ballico, Snelling, Keyes, Grayson, Crows Landing, Diablo Grande, Stevinson & Empire.
