Cost of college went up for all students at Modesto Junior College

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.3 percent for 2018-19 at Modesto Junior College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,166 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $4 more than the $1,162 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 531 percent more than residents this year, or $7,358. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 8.6 percent from $6,778 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents.

Data shows 78 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,186 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (17,908), 12,559 students used grants or scholarships totaling $42 million.
