WASHINGTON – On June 7, Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) issued the following statement after cosponsoring the bipartisan Dignity Act, the first major bipartisan immigration solution proposed by Congress in over a decade.
“Our system is broken. A humanitarian crisis is devastating both sides of our border, working families are forced into the shadows, border agents are left unsupported, employers are criminalized, and families are driven apart.
I said I would work with both Democrats and Republicans on a bipartisan immigration bill, and I meant it. The Dignity Act is a commonsense, bipartisan fix to the crisis at our border. This bill makes our country safer by providing $25 billion to fully secure our border, provides a dignified solution for undocumented immigrants living in America, strengthens our economy, and brings working families out of the shadows,” said Rep. Duarte.
