Assembly Bill 17 has been signed into law as of July 30, 2025. The new legislation will require registrars of voters in each California county to provide public access to information about the boundaries of each election precinct within their county.
The bill aims to increase transparency and make it easier for residents to find out which precinct they belong to when participating in elections.
“This legislation ensures that voters can easily access up-to-date information about their election precincts, helping them participate more effectively in our democratic process,” said a spokesperson involved with the bill.
Supporters believe that making this information readily available will reduce confusion during elections and encourage higher voter turnout by ensuring everyone knows where they need to vote.
