Assemblymember Juan Alanis expressed concern over the Kern County Water Agency’s decision to cease water services to Diablo Grande on June 30, 2025. Alanis highlighted ongoing discussions with Stanislaus County Supervisor Channce Condit, who provided detailed insights into the issue. Both Diablo Grande residents and the Western Hills Water District have communicated their worries through letters.

Alanis’s office has engaged with local leaders, including Board of Supervisors Chairman Buck Condit and Supervisor Terry Withrow, to address the situation. He has reached out to the Governor’s Office, the Office of Emergency Services, the Department of Water Resources, and the California Water Resource Control Board.

Alanis stated, “My immediate concern, and I believe the immediate concern of local leaders, is to ensure there is no disruption of water services to the nearly 600 households and 1,500 residents of this community.” He emphasized the necessity for collaboration among government levels to resolve the longstanding issues affecting Diablo Grande, adding, “The current crisis is not the fault of the residents of Diablo Grande and I feel strongly they should not be held responsible for the current situation.”

Assemblymember Juan Alanis represents California’s 22nd Assembly District, which includes multiple communities such as Modesto, Turlock, Ceres, and Diablo Grande.
